East Texas A&M shocked Oklahoma with a 68-64 win in the season opener for each team on Monday night, the AP reports. Bo Aldridge led the Lions with 22 points on 8-for-12 shooting.

The Lions were a 28.5-point underdog, according to the AP. It was their first win ever against a power conference team. ESPN Research ranks it as the second-largest Division I upset by point spread in the last 30 years, USA Today reports.

Mohamed Diakite and Alonzo Dodd each scored 15 points for East Texas A&M, the AP reports. The Lions never trailed after taking a 13-12 lead in the first half. Oklahoma tied the game at 58 and 60 but never went ahead. Aldridge made two free throws with three seconds left to seal it.

Pop Isaacs scored 15 points for the Sooners, the AP reports. Derrion Reid had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Oklahoma turned the ball over 15 times and missed 15 free throws, USA Today reports.

"Before we take any questions, the only thing I know what to do is apologize to the fan base and get better," Moser said after the game, USA Today reports. "I apologize to every single person that came in (tonight)."

"We played on our heels all night," Moser said. "Not good enough. That's on me."

Oklahoma had won 30 straight non-conference games at home before Monday, the AP reports. USA Today reports that Moser's job was already under pressure going into the season. The Sooners have made the NCAA Tournament only once under him, in 2025, the paper says.

East Texas A&M plays Rice on Thursday, the AP reports. Oklahoma hosts Mississippi Valley State on Friday.
