This page explains how NewsHabit reports the news and how we handle mistakes. It is not legal advice.
What NewsHabit is
NewsHabit is a daily news homepage operated by South Magnolia LLC. We summarize developing stories in short briefs, show where major accounts agree and where they conflict, and link to the specific articles and posts we used. We aim for a truth-first, balanced voice without a partisan slant.
Our standards
- Ground every story in sources. Hard-news cards should rest on more than one independent outlet or primary document when possible. Every story ends with a Sources list that links to the specific pieces we used—not bare outlet home pages.
- Separate fact from dispute. Where accounts agree, we say so. Where they conflict, we say so. We do not collapse disagreement into a single narrative voice.
- Do not invent. We do not fabricate quotes, photos of real events, outcomes, vote tallies, or other facts. AI-generated images, if used at all, are labeled as illustration and are not used as documentary photos of hard-news events.
- Label images honestly. Photo credit, license, and source page are shown. The picture must match the story (subject and caption). Each brief gets its own unique image.
- Treat developing stories as live. Hearings, rulings, scores, market closes, and diplomatic claims can change. We update same-day cards when confirmed facts change and mark them as updated.
- Archives freeze. After midnight Eastern Time, a day’s edition is archived and generally immutable. Rare correction notes may be added when a clear error must be acknowledged.
What we are not
NewsHabit briefs are summaries for readers, not legal, medical, financial, or investment advice. Linking to another outlet’s reporting does not mean we adopt every claim in that outlet’s piece.
Corrections
If you believe a NewsHabit story is wrong, incomplete in a material way, or unfair:
- Use the Contact form (choose topic Correction) with the story URL (or date + headline), what you think is wrong, and any supporting links or documents.
- We review correction requests in good faith. If we confirm an error, we will correct the story (or add a clear correction note) and, when appropriate, note what changed.
- Same-day developing updates are normal. After a day is archived, we generally add a correction note rather than silently rewriting history.
We prioritize factual errors (wrong name, wrong outcome, wrong attribution, wrong photo subject) over disagreements about tone or emphasis.
