The Chicago Bears beat the host Seattle Seahawks 34-17 on Monday night, according to The Guardian. Caleb Williams threw a touchdown pass on the opening drive, and Jeffery Simmons gave the defense a lift in his first game for Chicago.

The Bears traded for Simmons last week, sending Tennessee a package that included two first-round picks, the Guardian reports. He had a sack on the opening drive and finished with six tackles. Chicago held Seattle to 252 yards and one third-down conversion on 11 tries.

"I'm so excited to be a Chicago Bear man," Simmons said in an interview with ESPN, the Guardian reports. "This is just the beginning."

Williams completed 71% of his passes for 247 yards with no turnovers, the Guardian reports. His play set up three short touchdown runs by D'Andre Swift. The Bears are now 6-2, while the Seahawks fall to 4-4.

Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold went 17 of 34 for 188 yards and two touchdowns, the Guardian says. His interception in the fourth quarter set up Swift's third touchdown. The Seahawks ran for just 81 yards.

The defending champions have lost three of their last four games, the Guardian reports. The loss ended a 30-game run in which Seattle had not lost by more than four points.

Only The Guardian has reported this so far, and NewsHabit hasn't seen independent confirmation.
