Truth-first daily scoop — both sides, labeled sources.

About / How we work

NewsHabit (NewsHabit.com, owned by South Magnolia LLC) is a habit-forming daily scoop site: modern, fast to scan, and deliberately balanced. Think early Drudge Report energy for the daily habit — without single-side framing.

Truth-first, not team-first

Every brief aims to surface what is happening and what competing credible outlets are saying about it. We label sources at the foot of each story so readers can judge the evidence — not a bare homepage link dump, but specific example headlines and posts.

Planned pipeline (not live in this draft)

  1. 1
    Google Trends — Trending Now
Surface what is rising in attention (future integration).
  2. 2
    Grok API — X + multi-outlet context
Pull conversation and coverage across the spectrum (future integration).
  3. 3
    Short Grok-written briefs
Compress into a 3–6 sentence daily habit read with a Sources footer.

The edition on the homepage is a frozen slate for one date, with sources labeled on each story. This static site does not call Google Trends, Grok, or X from the browser, and it does not store API keys.

Daily editions & archive

Each morning’s scoop persists as its own dated edition under content/YYYY-MM-DD/. A later morning never overwrites an older date. The homepage serves today from js/publish.js when that edition is on the server. If that publish is missing — the ops bot is down, or the folder has not been uploaded — the homepage serves lastGood, the previous frozen edition, and says so. Use Past editions to open an older published date. Archived days are read-only.

Images

The 2026-09-23 edition shows a credited photo or illustration on every card: 27 photos and 3 labeled non-AI illustrations. The 2026-09-22 edition stays archived the same way (26 photos and 4 illustrations). None of those images are AI-generated. Sep 16 through Sep 21 are archived the same way, with credited photos and illustrations. AI imagery, if used later, must be labeled and is never presented as a real news photo.
