Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 26, 2026

Site: NewsHabit.com

Operator: South Magnolia LLC (“NewsHabit,” “we,” “us”)

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use NewsHabit.com, how we use it, and your choices. NewsHabit is primarily a read-only news homepage. We do not require an account to read the daily edition.

This is a draft for review, not legal advice.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

If you use our Contact form, the Advertise form, or otherwise message us, we receive whatever you send (for example, your email address, name, and message content).

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider and any analytics tools we use may collect:

IP address, browser type, device type, and general location derived from IP
Pages viewed, referring URL, and timestamps
Cookies or similar technologies used for basic site function, security, or analytics

Advertising

If a sponsor appears on the site (“Today’s NewsHabit sponsored by…”), the sponsor’s own site and any pixels they use are governed by their privacy practices, not this policy. Sponsorship inquiries submitted through our forms are used to respond to that inquiry.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

Operate and secure the site
Understand aggregate traffic (what editions and categories are read)
Respond to corrections, contact messages, and advertising inquiries
Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Use

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Sharing

We may share information with:

Service providers who host the site, provide analytics, email delivery (including form delivery), or security (only as needed to do that work)
Professional advisors (legal, accounting) when needed
Authorities when required by law or to protect rights and safety

We do not share personal information with sponsors for their marketing unless you ask us to make an introduction or you contact them directly.

4. Cookies and analytics

We may use first-party cookies for basic site function and third-party analytics (for example, to see aggregate page views). You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect some site features.

Tools we use

Hosting. The site is static files on our web host. The host may keep server logs (such as IP address, pages, and timestamps) as described above.
Fonts. Pages load typefaces from Google Fonts.
Forms. Contact and Advertise submissions are delivered by FormSubmit.
Analytics. These pages load Google Analytics (gtag.js, measurement ID G-72MW7L6CYP) to measure aggregate page views.

5. Retention

We keep contact and correction messages as long as needed to handle the request and for ordinary business records. Server and analytics logs are kept according to our host’s and tools’ defaults, or shorter if we configure them that way.

6. Children and age

NewsHabit is intended for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 years of age. If you believe someone under 18 has sent us personal information, use the Contact form and we will delete it.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, use the Contact form (topic Privacy). We may need to verify your request.

You can also unsubscribe from any email list we operate by using the link in the email or contacting us.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to a small news site. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. International visitors

If you visit from outside the United States, you understand that information may be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will change the “Last updated” date when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
