Walt Disney Animation Studios has released a new trailer for "Hexed," an original animated film about a teenager with secret magic powers, Animation World Network and Gold Derby reported. The movie opens in theaters Nov. 25, over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Hailee Steinfeld voices Billie Doe, a teenager whose newly released magic pulls her out of the suburbs and into Hexe, a vast realm of witches. Rashida Jones voices her careful mother, Alice. Together they uncover family secrets that could change the world of witches, Animation World Network reported.

Jodie Foster voices Queen Celeste, a sinister ruler who wants to keep her hold on Hexe. Walton Goggins plays a three-eyed magic cat. Tracey Ullman voices Ms. Quill, a mentor who is also a writing tool, and Stephen Fry voices a talking journal, Gold Derby reported.

In the trailer, Billie runs through her first spell lesson, a three-step chant of "intention, ignition, inwitchification," Animation World Network reported. Then Hexe turns on her as an outsider, and mother and daughter go on the run. Gold Derby reported that the trailer opens with Billie as a baby whose mother puts a charm on her to keep her "normal."

"Hexe is a place where Billie begins to feel seen for the first time in her life," said director Jason Hand, Gold Derby reported.

The film is directed by Fawn Veerasunthorn and Jason Hand. Veerasunthorn also co-directed Disney's 2023 holiday film "Wish," which had a disappointing reception, Gold Derby noted. The movie was first teased at CinemaCon earlier this year.
