Louisville looked beaten early Friday night. Then Isaac Brown took off.

The Cardinals running back ran for a career-high 235 yards and two touchdowns on just 17 carries as Louisville beat Florida State 44-20, the Associated Press reported.

Florida State led 14-0 and seemed in control. In the second quarter, the Seminoles went for it on fourth-and-goal instead of kicking a short field goal. Louisville defensive back Kaleb Beasley stopped receiver Jasen Lopez at the 3-yard line.

On the very next play, Brown burst 97 yards for a touchdown. From there, Louisville scored 35 straight points.

The Cardinals outgained Florida State 438-190 after the fourth-down stop and finished with 537 total yards. They ran for 397 yards and scored every touchdown on the ground. Quarterback Lincoln Kienholz ran for two scores. Brown added a 68-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Louisville did it without Keyjuan Brown, its top rusher this season, who was out injured.

Isaac Brown also helped on special teams. He returned the second-half kickoff 71 yards, and a horse-collar penalty added more yards. Kienholz scored four plays later to give Louisville a 21-14 lead.

For Florida State, quarterback Ashton Daniels threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score. The AP called the decision to skip the early field goal "another questionable decision" for the program.

Louisville is now 3-3 and 2-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Florida State is 3-3 and 1-2 in the ACC.

Both teams are on the road next Saturday, Oct. 17. Louisville plays at Syracuse, and Florida State visits No. 4 Miami.

What we know: Louisville won 44-20 behind Isaac Brown's 235 rushing yards.
What we don't: Whether Keyjuan Brown will be healthy for the Syracuse game.
