The WNBA Finals are set, and both teams got there without losing a semifinal game.

In New York, the Atlanta Dream beat the Liberty 85-83 to finish a three-game sweep, the Associated Press reported. It is Atlanta's first trip to the Finals since 2013. Angel Reese, the league's Defensive Player of the Year, scored 22 points.

The finish was tense. Atlanta led by two with 17.7 seconds left. Breanna Stewart missed a contested layup with nine seconds to go, and DeWanna Bonner hit two free throws to seal it. Atlanta played without leading scorer Allisha Gray, who has a finger injury. Jonquel Jones and Stewart each scored 26 for New York.

Reese came to Atlanta in a trade this offseason. "The job isn't done," she said.

In Las Vegas, the Golden State Valkyries took down the defending champion Aces 87-77 in overtime, ESPN reported. Golden State became the first expansion team to reach the WNBA Finals within its first two seasons.

The Valkyries trailed by 11 early in the third quarter. They answered with a 17-0 run and held the Aces to seven points in the quarter. Late in regulation, Gabby Williams stole the ball from five-time MVP A'ja Wilson to set up Kayla Thornton's tying layup. Golden State outscored Las Vegas 16-9 in overtime. Thornton led the team with 18 points.

"This is a dream come true to be going to the Finals in our second year," coach Natalie Nakase said.

Golden State made the playoffs as the No. 8 seed in its first season. This year it entered as the No. 2 seed with the league's best defense.

The best-of-seven Finals begin Saturday, Oct. 17, in San Francisco. ESPN said the Valkyries opened as slight favorites to win the title.

What we know: Atlanta and Golden State open the Finals Oct. 17 in San Francisco.
What we don't: Whether Allisha Gray's finger injury will keep her out of the Finals.
