Maine's Senate race is ending with sharp words from each side, according to Fox News and MS NOW. Republican Sen. Susan Collins faces Democrat Troy Jackson on Tuesday.

Collins said on Sunday that she has never seen a campaign with "so many outright lies," Fox News reports. She blamed Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

She pointed to an ad about Jeffrey Epstein that she called false. She said two Republican colleagues in tough races faced ads that were almost the same. "So this is part of Chuck Schumer's playbook," she said.

Collins called herself the "most independent senator on either side of the aisle." She disputed a figure saying she voted with Trump 95% of the time. She said she has voted against his policies 138 times.

Jackson, a former president of the Maine Senate, launched a seven-figure ad push in the final stretch, MS NOW reported on October 27. "Is it for the billionaires and Trump, or everyday people like us?" he says in the ad.

"I owe nothing to the billionaires or Trump. I owe everything to the people of Maine," Jackson says. He argues that Collins has grown closer to Trump despite her moderate image.

The ad claims are campaign claims from each side. Neither outlet checked them in full.

Trump has endorsed Collins, MS NOW reports. Jackson has the backing of former President Barack Obama and former Vice President Kamala Harris.

Polls show a very close race. The latest Fox News poll has the two tied at 49%.

What we know: The race is close, and each side is closing with harsh claims.
What we don't: Who will win on Tuesday.
