Los Angeles police have arrested two people on suspicion of murder in the death of Christina Downer, the sister of "Saturday Night Live" writer Jimmy Fowlie, NBC Los Angeles and Variety report. Downer went missing nearly a year ago.

The two were named as Delorean Bijon Brandon, Downer's boyfriend, and Kaylee Nicole Markowski, the outlets report. Variety says Brandon is 41 and Markowski is 34. Brandon was arrested in the Highland Park area of Los Angeles and Markowski in Tarzana, police said.

Detectives believe the two were responsible for Downer's murder and then got rid of her body and hid the crime, police said. They did not give details. NBC Los Angeles reports that each is being held on $2 million bail.

Downer, 38, was reported missing in December 2025 after her ex-husband asked for a welfare check, NBC Los Angeles reports. Brandon at first claimed she had moved out of their home but left behind her car and dog, police said.

Homicide detectives took over the case after Downer's cellphone washed ashore at Santa Monica Beach, the outlets report. This month, investigators searched an Airbnb property in Joshua Tree with help from dog teams and the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

In April, Fowlie posted that his sister was "no longer alive." He wrote that her phone had been used to hide that she was gone and to ask for money. "Our prayers for her to be found safely have transformed into prayers for the truth to be revealed," he wrote.
