An online fundraiser for a Red Baron pizza worker in Michigan has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars after a prank video showed him upset at work, Newsweek, TribLive and CBS Detroit report. The worker has been identified only as Walt Z, Newsweek and TribLive report.

In the video, a person filming played an Apple Pay payment sound near the worker's phone, making him think $10 had been taken, the outlets report. CBS Detroit says he was restocking frozen pizzas at a market in White Lake.

"You're probably making money off this. I can't pay my mortgage, and I got four kids at home," he says in the video, CBS Detroit reports. He also said his children had gone to bed without him because he was still working, Newsweek and TribLive report. He said he had to be back at work early the next morning, the two outlets report.

The fundraiser was set up by Luke Oakenshield, who does not know the worker, Newsweek and TribLive report. "There is real concern that this hardworking person could lose their job because of a situation they did not create," the fundraiser page says, the outlets report. TribLive says it drew about 14,500 donations by Friday afternoon. CBS Detroit says gifts ranged from $10 to $30,000.

The totals vary by when each outlet checked. Newsweek reported more than $450,000, TribLive reported more than $500,000 and CBS Detroit reported more than $400,000. CBS Detroit says the goal has been raised to $700,000.

Red Baron posted on X, "He's still here. He's got a fan club. Including us," Newsweek and TribLive report. Newsweek says the post came with a graphic that read "Employee of the month nominations are closed" and has been viewed more than 4.5 million times. CBS Detroit says the account of the person who filmed the video has been deactivated.

What we know: A fundraiser for the worker has drawn thousands of donors.
What we don't: The final total and whether the worker has spoken publicly.
