The NBA has made Kalshi and Polymarket its preferred prediction markets and announced a memorandum of understanding with the federal Commodity Futures Trading Commission. NBC News and The Verge reported the Monday package is meant to add integrity rules around NBA-related contracts.

The league said the markets will face limits on what can be offered, share data on suspicious trading, and ban league and team personnel from trading on league events. NBA media partnerships chief Scott Kaufman-Ross said fans already trade on games and that a regulated market is safer than an unregulated one.

The NBA is also expanding its DraftKings deal to cover prediction-market products. Prediction markets are available in more places than state sportsbooks, and more than a dozen states are fighting over who regulates them. The Verge noted the league is still dealing with fallout from gambling cases involving former and current players.

What we know: Kalshi and Polymarket are now preferred NBA prediction partners under new integrity rules.
What we don't: How fast the new limits will change the contracts fans see, and how courts will settle the state-versus-federal fight.
