The Golden State Valkyries beat the Atlanta Dream 67-62 in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals on Saturday at State Farm Arena, the Guardian, ESPN, and USA Today reported. The series is tied 2-2. Game 5 is Monday at Chase Center in San Francisco.

Gabby Williams led Golden State with 17 points, USA Today and the Guardian reported. Tiffany Hayes and Veronica Burton added 13 each, USA Today said. Cecilia Zandalasini scored 10 off the bench after a starting-lineup change. The Valkyries led by as many as 16 before Atlanta cut it to four in the final half-minute. Rhyne Howard’s three-point play with 28 seconds left made it 66-62, the Guardian reported. Howard led the Dream with 19 points.

Angel Reese, who had averaged 25.5 points in the prior two Dream wins, scored eight points on 2-of-12 shooting and had nine rebounds and six turnovers, USA Today reported. Williams said Reese had been "the head of the snake" and that the job was to make every look hard. Kiah Stokes had three blocks and eight offensive rebounds among 16 boards, the Guardian said. Stokes now has 14 blocks in the series, a Finals record ahead of Brittney Griner and Sylvia Fowles.

Coach Natalie Nakase inserted Hayes and Kaila Charles into the starting five. Hayes said after a 97-71 Game 3 loss that the team needed more fight and grit. Stokes said Game 3 did not end the series because a win Saturday made it a best-of-three.

Golden State’s defense held Atlanta under 65 points after allowing 97 in Game 3. The Valkyries now host a winner-take-more Game 5 with home fans ready after a rocky start to the series on the road.
