The Offspring guitarist Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman is taking a break from live shows because of a health problem, according to Loudwire, Blabbermouth and Fox News.

Wasserman, 63, shared the news in a social media post on Wednesday, the outlets reported. Fox News said the post was on Instagram.

"It is with deep sadness that I have to announce that I need to step away from live performances for a while to deal with a sudden and fairly serious health issue," he wrote, according to the outlets.

He did not say what the health issue is, Loudwire and Fox News reported.

"The rest of the band has my back, is super supportive and will keep rocking you all in my absence," he wrote, the outlets reported. "I hope to be back on stage sooner rather than later."

He thanked fans for keeping him in their thoughts, the outlets said.

It is not yet clear who will play guitar in his place, Loudwire reported.

The band's next show is Saturday at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, Loudwire and Blabbermouth reported. Blabbermouth said it is part of a benefit concert. The band also has shows planned in Las Vegas in early November, in Mexico City later that month and at an iHeartRadio event in January, Blabbermouth said.

Wasserman last played with the band on Sunday at a festival in San Diego, Blabbermouth reported.

Fans and fellow musicians posted messages of support, Fox News reported. Simple Plan singer Pierre Bouvier and the band Garbage were among them, the outlet said.

The Offspring formed in Garden Grove, California, in 1984, Blabbermouth reported. The band's 1998 album "Americana" included the hits "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)" and "Why Don't You Get a Job?" Fox News said.

What we know: Wasserman is stepping away from live shows for a health issue.
What we don't: What the health issue is, and when he will return.
