About 4.3 million tubes of toothpaste recalled, including children's brands
About 4.3 million tubes of Brush Buddies, evo and ARU toothpaste have been recalled across the United States. They include children's Barbie, Hot Wheels and Crayola flavors. Federal records cite problems with manufacturing practices but do not say exactly what went wrong.
About 4.3 million tubes of toothpaste, including several children's varieties, are under a nationwide recall, WBAL-TV and IBTimes UK reported, citing Food and Drug Administration records.
The 17 voluntary recalls cover Brush Buddies, evo and ARU toothpastes, WBAL-TV reported. The FDA lists the reason as "current good manufacturing practice deviations" but has not said exactly what the problem was. Federal records put the total at 4,301,700 tubes.
The recalled products include Brush Buddies Barbie and Hot Wheels toothpastes, Crayola Silly Scents bubble gum, watermelon and strawberry toothpastes, and My Little Pony bubble gum toothpaste, according to WBAL-TV. Ice cream flavors such as vanilla, mint chocolate chip, cookies and cream, and chocolate are also on the list, along with whitening and cavity-protection products. Two evo toothpastes for whitening and sensitivity and two ARU toothpastes for gum health and cavity protection are included.
Pritam International Private Limited, an Indian manufacturer, started the recalls on September 10, IBTimes UK reported. Ashtel Studios of Ontario, California, distributed the products, which were sold through online marketplaces including Amazon and eBay. IBTimes UK said the details appeared in an FDA enforcement report published on October 19.
The FDA classified the recalls as Class II. That means using the product may cause temporary or medically reversible health problems, but the chance of serious harm is considered remote.
Manufacturing rules cover how companies keep products clean, consistent and safe. A food safety expert quoted by IBTimes UK from a 2025 interview about a different recall said such lapses can lead to contamination, though that has not been confirmed for these products. WBAL-TV said it asked the FDA why the products were recalled but had not heard back.
What we know: About 4.3 million tubes of Brush Buddies, evo and ARU toothpaste are recalled as Class II.
What we don't: What specific manufacturing problem led to the recall.
Where outlets agree WBAL-TV and IBTimes UK both report 4,301,700 recalled tubes from Pritam International, distributed by Ashtel Studios, under a Class II recall.
Where they differ WBAL-TV says expiration dates on the recalled tubes run from November 2026 to June 2028, while IBTimes UK says they run to December 2028.
