The Philadelphia Eagles placed quarterback Jalen Hurts on injured reserve on Saturday because of a blood clot in his calf, the Philadelphia Inquirer and AP reported. He must miss at least four games, the Inquirer and AP reported. The earliest he can return is the November 22 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Inquirer reported. The team has not set a timeline for his return as he decides on a course of treatment, the Inquirer reported.

Hurts was hurt when he took a cleat to the calf on October 4 against the Los Angeles Rams, the team said Thursday, according to AP and the Inquirer. An ultrasound in London on October 10 found what the team called "a superficial blood clot," and doctors concluded that he could safely play against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to the team statement quoted by AP. A follow-up ultrasound on Wednesday showed "movement in the small blood clot," the Inquirer reported.

Tanner McKee will make his third career start on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, with rookie Cole Payton as the backup, AP reported. The Eagles signed quarterback Joe Milton III off the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad on Friday, the Inquirer and NBC Sports Philadelphia reported. They placed running back Will Shipley on injured reserve to clear a roster spot, the Inquirer reported. Milton, 26, was a sixth-round pick of the New England Patriots in 2024, the Inquirer and NBC Sports Philadelphia reported.

On Saturday, the Eagles also promoted running back Jaydon Blue from the practice squad to the active roster, the Inquirer reported. Saquon Barkley was ruled out with a hamstring injury for a second straight game, the Inquirer and Yahoo Sports reported.

DeVonta Smith, who missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, is set to return, the Inquirer reported. He took part in Friday's practice and had no injury designation, Yahoo Sports reported. Edge rusher Jonathan Greenard is also set to return, while Michael Carter II and Jalyx Hunt were ruled out, the Inquirer reported.

"I have a lot of faith in Tanner," coach Nick Sirianni said, according to the Inquirer. The 2-3 Eagles host the Panthers on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at Lincoln Financial Field, according to the team's schedule.

What we know: Hurts is on injured reserve and must miss at least four games, and McKee will start Sunday.
What we don't: How Hurts' clot will be treated and when he will return, and whether Milton will be active Sunday.
