Police in Douglas, Georgia, on Thursday identified five people who died in an apparent murder-suicide at a home last week, CBS News Atlanta and WJCL reported.

Investigators believe John Anthony Fabrizio, 64, shot and killed four family members before shooting himself, according to a police statement reported by both outlets. The victims were his wife, Rachel Elizabeth Fabrizio, 64; James Nicholas Fabrizio, 28; William Christopher Fabrizio, 26; and Rosaida Figueroa Berrios, 26, the outlets reported. All five lived in the home, investigators said, according to CBS News Atlanta.

Douglas police officers and Coffee County sheriff's deputies responded shortly after 11 p.m. on Oct. 9 to a report of an active shooter at a home on Robin Lane, both outlets reported. Four adults were found dead inside, and a fifth died at Coffee Regional Medical Center. Autopsy results are pending, the outlets said.

At a news conference on Oct. 10, Police Chief Brannen Pruette said the first 911 call was placed by Rachel Fabrizio, who complained that her husband was smoking inside the home, CBS News Atlanta and WJCL reported. Authorities have not said what led to the shooting, WJCL reported.

"This was a hard scene for everybody involved," Coffee County Sheriff Fred Cole said at that news conference, according to WJCL.

"The department extends its condolences to the victims' loved ones and recognizes the impact this loss has had on our community," the Douglas Police Department wrote on Facebook, according to CBS News Atlanta. Police said the investigation is ongoing and asked the public to respect the families' privacy.
