Chick-fil-A adds spicy version of its signature sauce Nov. 16
Chick-fil-A will add Spicy Chick-fil-A Sauce to its menus across the country on Nov. 16, Fox News and Allrecipes reported. It is the chain's first new permanent sauce in 10 years. The sauce adds spicy peppers to the classic recipe and will come in dipping cups and 8-ounce bottles.
Chick-fil-A is adding a spicy version of its signature sauce, its first new permanent sauce in a decade, Fox News and Allrecipes reported.
Spicy Chick-fil-A Sauce will arrive at restaurants nationwide on Nov. 16, the outlets reported. It will come in standard dipping cups and 8-ounce bottles, the Atlanta-based company told Fox News Digital. Allrecipes reported that the bottles will be sold at the drive-thru and through catering orders.
The sauce blends the classic Chick-fil-A Sauce flavor, with its mustard notes and smoky tang, with spicy peppers and subtle sweetness, according to the company, Fox News reported.
"We know our guests love bold, spicy flavors, and in our year of newstalgia, we're turning up the heat on a classic," Allison Duncan, Chick-fil-A's director of menu and packaging, told Fox News Digital in a statement.
Chick-fil-A said its research over the past year found customers consistently named a spicy version of the signature sauce as the one they most wanted added, Fox reported. The chain also tested spicy chicken strips at two Georgia restaurants earlier this year, Fox said.
The original Chick-fil-A Sauce was added to menus in 2006, years after the Honey Mustard, Barbecue and Polynesian sauces, Allrecipes reported. The chain now offers seven sauces, and its most recent addition was Sweet & Spicy Sriracha in 2016, Allrecipes said.
Chick-fil-A told Allrecipes it has no current plans to sell the spicy sauce in grocery stores, as it does with some of its other sauces.
Some Reddit users were skeptical the new sauce would be truly hot, Fox reported. "A big pet peeve of mine is so many food items that say 'spicy' but aren't," one user wrote.
