Aston Villa beat Turkish club Fenerbahce 6-0 at Villa Park in the Champions League on Wednesday, the biggest European win in the club's history, BBC Sport and The Guardian reported.

Johan Manzambi, on his 21st birthday and in his first Champions League game, opened the scoring with a deflected shot, The Guardian reported. Nicolas Jackson then scored twice before half-time to make it 3-0, both outlets reported.

Ross Barkley added two more in the second half, the first from a penalty that Manzambi earned, The Guardian reported. Tammy Abraham scored the sixth late in the game.

It was Villa's first home win of the season, both outlets reported. Villa had taken just one point from their first three Premier League home games, BBC Sport reported. The team last scored six in a game in a 6-1 win over Brighton three years ago.

Villa scored three of the goals at the end of the ground where the North Stand is being rebuilt, The Guardian reported. Before Wednesday, Villa had scored only once while attacking that end this season, BBC Sport reported.

Fenerbahce's lineup included former Premier League players such as Ederson, Nathan Ake and Romelu Lukaku, BBC Sport reported. Mason Greenwood, playing his first game in England since January 2022, was booed by home fans every time he touched the ball, The Guardian reported. Prince William watched from the stands.

"They didn't deserve 6-0 but for us it was very important how we achieved the first win at home," Villa manager Unai Emery said, BBC Sport reported. "There is still a lot of work to do and we need time."

The result leaves Villa well placed to reach the knockout phase, BBC Sport reported.

What we know: Villa won 6-0 for their biggest European victory, with two goals each from Jackson and Barkley.
What we don't: Whether the win marks a lasting turnaround after Villa's slow start at home.
