Connor McDavid had a goal and three assists in his 800th NHL game, and the Edmonton Oilers beat the Los Angeles Kings 4-1 on Tuesday night in Los Angeles, NHL.com reported.

The win was Edmonton's fifth in a row, and the Oilers are 5-0-1 to start the season, the AP reported. The Kings fell to 0-3-2, and they are one of only two NHL teams without a win, along with Philadelphia, according to the AP.

McDavid now has 1,237 points in 800 games, NHL.com reported. That is the third-highest total ever at that point in a career, behind only Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux, the league's news site said. He is also the ninth player in NHL history with at least 50 games of four or more points.

Edmonton took control early. McDavid set up Leon Draisaitl for the first goal, then fed Vasily Podkolzin for a power-play goal one minute later, NHL.com said. Late in the first period, McDavid took a long pass from Ty Emberson and scored on a breakaway to make it 3-0.

"We were kind of hemmed in there, and then got the change, and so I'm always going to (look for our defense to) high flip it and just go for it," McDavid said, according to NHL.com.

Podkolzin added an empty-net goal in the third period for his second goal of the night, the AP and Postmedia reported. Brandt Clarke scored the only goal for Los Angeles.

Goalie Devon Levi made 39 saves, a career high, the AP reported. The Kings outshot Edmonton 40-16, according to the AP. Edmonton was outshot 26-9 over the last two periods, Postmedia's Robert Tychkowski reported.

"I mean, just the way the guy shows up every single day, it's rinse repeat," Levi said of McDavid, NHL.com reported.

Kings forward Trevor Moore said his team is "just not good enough right now," NHL.com reported. "We got to figure it out fast," he said.

The Oilers host Utah on Thursday, and the Kings host Boston on Saturday, the AP reported.

What we know: McDavid had four points in his 800th game, and Edmonton has won five straight.
What we don't: When injured Oilers forwards Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will return.
