Actress Martha Plimpton criticized comedian Shane Gillis's "Saturday Night Live" monologue in a video on Instagram, Variety reported. She also said the show's creator, Lorne Michaels, needs more women helping to decide what gets on air.

Plimpton said she had never heard of Gillis before he hosted, Page Six reported. She said he "said some really f---ing stupid" things live on the show, according to Variety. "He deserves a spanking from his mom," she said.

Gillis drew anger almost right away for a joke about the clothes women wear to the gym, Variety reported. In it, he said women now "dress like whores," the outlet said.

Plimpton, 55, also talked about a documentary about the show that she watched on Monday, Page Six reported. She described a scene in Michaels's office between the rehearsal and the live show, when people decide which sketches to cut.

"It was all white men in the room deciding. All white men," she said, according to Variety.

"I think Lorne needs some more women in that room making decisions. Don't you?" she said, Variety reported.

Plimpton said the scene was filmed about three years ago, not recently, Page Six said. She added that she did not know everyone in the room and that there were "no women, no people of color," the outlet reported.

Plimpton praised longtime cast member Kenan Thompson, who commented on her video, Variety said. Her caption read, "Shane Who?"

Michaels is 81, Page Six noted. Plimpton is known for "The Goonies" and plays the brothel owner Faye on the show "East of Eden," the outlet said.

Neither outlet reported a response from Gillis, Michaels or NBC.

What we know: Plimpton called Gillis's monologue stupid and said SNL's decision-makers lack women.
What we don't: Whether Michaels or NBC will respond.
