Netflix released the first trailer on Wednesday for "Guarding Stars," a holiday romantic comedy starring Leighton Meester and Jared Padalecki, UPI reported. The movie comes out on Netflix on Nov. 18.

Meester, known for "Gossip Girl," plays Hannah, "a no-nonsense bodyguard," UPI said. She is assigned to protect Jack, "a charming action star" played by Padalecki, known for "Supernatural."

In the trailer, the two begin to fall for each other when they pretend to be a couple while visiting his family, UPI reported.

The story is set in rural Montana over the holidays, The Playlist reported. Hannah protects Jack from a stalker. When the trip runs longer than planned, she has to convince his family that she is his girlfriend, The Playlist said, citing a description first published by People.

The movie is based on Katherine Center's novel "The Bodyguard," both outlets reported. It is directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum, The Playlist said.

The cast also includes Andie MacDowell, Noah LaLonde, country singer Walker Hayes, Toby Sandeman and pop singer Ava Max, The Playlist reported.

The stars have talked up the film. "This one is special because I'm certain it will end up on people's 'must-rewatch' list," Padalecki told People, The Playlist reported.

Meester said she trained for the role, according to The Playlist. "I learned how to flip a stunt person, ride a horse, and jump away from an explosion. I also learned how bodyguards do their job," she said.

The Playlist noted that the Montana setting may be meant to draw fans of Western shows like "Yellowstone." It said Netflix is starting to promote its Christmas movie early, in mid-October.
