Costco has added a new dessert to its US food courts: a vanilla apple pie sundae, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. It costs $2.99.

The sundae layers Costco's vanilla soft-serve with apple pie filling and pieces of crunchy pie crust, the Chronicle said. It is a take on apple pie with ice cream that shoppers can carry.

The sundae began showing up at warehouse food courts this month, according to social media posts from Costco fans, the Chronicle reported. Videos spread fast on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.

Food reviewers who post as PB&J called the sundae "the bomb" and said Costco was generous with the apple topping, the Chronicle reported.

The sundae arrived soon after another food court change: the return of Costco's churro, both outlets reported.

During Costco's earnings call on Sept. 24, chief financial officer Gary Millerchip confirmed the news, Fast Company reported. "For a limited time, the food court churro will be returning to all our U.S. locations starting this month," he said.

The foot-long twisted churro is coated in cinnamon sugar and costs $1.49, Fast Company said. Costco replaced it with a warm chocolate chunk cookie in 2024, which upset many shoppers, the outlet reported.

Costco teased the churro's return on Instagram before the call, Fast Company said. That post got more than 145,000 likes.

Costco's food court is known for low prices, Fast Company noted.

Unlike menu staples such as the hot dog and pizza, Costco rotates specialty desserts from time to time, the Chronicle reported.

What we know: Costco's food courts now offer a $2.99 apple pie sundae and the returning $1.49 churro.
What we don't: How long either dessert will stay on the menu.
