Rams' Alaric Jackson faces two-game ban for punching Bills' Chubb
Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson is expected to get a two-game ban for punching Bills pass rusher Bradley Chubb, reports said Tuesday. Cameras caught the punch as players swapped jerseys after Buffalo's 37-34 overtime win on Monday. The NFL has not yet made a formal ruling.
Los Angeles Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson is expected to be suspended for two games, according to reports on Tuesday, Oct. 13, and the ban would be for punching Buffalo Bills pass rusher Bradley Chubb on the field after Monday night's game, the New York Post and Sporting News reported.
The Bills beat the Rams 37-34 in overtime at SoFi Stadium; after the game, players from both teams stayed on the field to swap jerseys. Jackson was trading his jersey with a Bills player when Chubb began talking to him. The two exchanged words near midfield, and TV cameras showed Jackson hit Chubb in the face, CBS Sports and the Post reported. Teammates pulled them apart, and Chubb was held back by Bills players.
NFL insider Adam Schefter reported the expected two-game ban, the Post said; Sporting News cited KPRC 2 Houston's Aaron Wilson, who said the suspension would be without pay. Sporting News also noted the ruling was not yet official, and Jackson could appeal.
If the ban holds, Jackson would miss games against the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders, and he could return Nov. 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers; veteran David Quessenberry, 36, would likely start in his place, Sporting News said.
Chubb played down the clash. "They always catch the second guy, so I let him swing and my teammates held me back," he told the California Post.
This would be Jackson's second ban in recent seasons, and he was suspended two games in 2024 for breaking the NFL's personal conduct policy. The loss dropped the Rams to 2-3, while the Bills are 4-1.
What we know: Jackson threw the punch on camera, and a two-game ban is widely reported.
