The world of Avatar: The Last Airbender is growing again. Paramount+ has ordered Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos, an animated series about the Water Tribe Avatar who came three generations before Aang, Variety reported.

The news came at the Avatar panel at New York Comic Con on Friday. The same day, the newest show, Avatar: Seven Havens, began streaming on Paramount+. The co-creators also said Seven Havens will return for two more seasons, called Books 3 and 4.

Bryan Konietzko, who created the original series with Michael Dante DiMartino, will be showrunner on Wave of Chaos. Avatar Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studios will make it. Paramount+ calls it "the next installment" in the franchise.

The story follows a "rebellious teenage Avatar" who breaks thousands of years of tradition. Instead of studying in one place, he learns the four elements by traveling the world. Along the way he dodges an angry teacher, rowdy pirates and chaotic spirits. The Hollywood Reporter said Kuruk is 14 in the show, and that it is billed as the franchise's first action comedy.

Fans have met Kuruk before, but only in visions and flashbacks. Only three Avatars have had their own shows: Aang, Korra and now Pavi, the young Earthbender at the heart of Seven Havens, Collider noted.

No cast or release date has been announced. Paramount+ did share first-look images.

The panel brought other news, too. A Seven Havens podcast is coming, along with new content for Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game. An art book and a novel based on the coming Avatar Aang film are due Nov. 10, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The franchise began on Nickelodeon in 2005. The Legend of Korra followed in 2012. Knight Edge Media first reported over the summer that a Kuruk series was in the works.

What we know: Paramount+ ordered a Kuruk series and renewed Seven Havens for Books 3 and 4.
What we don't: Who will voice Kuruk, and when the show will premiere.
