Drake won't submit Iceman or two other albums for Grammys
Drake did not submit his albums Iceman, Habibti or Maid of Honour for the 2027 Grammys, Billboard reported. He hinted at it in a lyric: "This album, I'm never submittin' it." K-pop stars BTS and Stray Kids are also sitting out this awards cycle.
Drake is skipping the Grammys again. He did not submit his albums Iceman, Habibti or Maid of Honour, or any of their songs, for the 2027 awards, Billboard reported, according to Billboard Canada and Rolling Stone.
He hinted at the move in a lyric. On "Make Them Know," he raps, "This album, I'm never submittin' it."
The rapper has a long, rocky history with the Recording Academy. He did not submit More Life in 2018. Ahead of the 2022 show, he withdrew his nominations for Certified Lover Boy. He did submit Her Loss, his album with 21 Savage, but it lost to Killer Mike, Rolling Stone noted. Drake last attended the Grammys in 2019, when he won best rap song for "God's Plan," Billboard Canada said.
The choice also comes amid his feud with Kendrick Lamar. Lamar's diss track "Not Like Us" won five Grammys in 2025. Drake sued Universal Music Group over the song. A judge dismissed the case, and his appeal is set for arguments in December, Rolling Stone reported.
Drake is not the only big act sitting out. BTS and Stray Kids are also not submitting, Billboard Canada reported. Their choices follow the Recording Academy's Oct. 1 confirmation of a new Asian pop category.
The decision means none of the three albums, or their songs, will compete for a Grammy this cycle. Drake has now skipped submitting or pulled out of the process several times since 2018, the reports show, even as Her Loss remained his one recent try for a trophy.
What we know: Drake did not submit his three newest albums or their songs for the 2027 Grammys.
What we don't: Whether Drake will say more about the decision beyond his lyrics.
Where outlets agree Billboard Canada and Rolling Stone both report Drake did not submit Iceman, Habibti or Maid of Honour for Grammy consideration.
Where they differ Rolling Stone's headline names the 2027 Grammys while its story text says 2026, and Billboard Canada places the move in the 2027 awards cycle.
