Tulsa King renewed for Season 5, moving production to New York
Paramount+ has renewed Sylvester Stallone's Tulsa King for a fifth season, and production is moving from Georgia to New York. The news comes before Season 4 premieres Oct. 16. Four new series regulars will join the crime drama, which brings Stallone's character back to his mob roots.
Tulsa King is getting a fifth season and a new home. Paramount+ has renewed the Sylvester Stallone crime drama ahead of its Season 4 premiere, Deadline and Variety reported, and production is moving from Georgia to New York.
Season 4 debuts on Paramount+ on Oct. 16, so the renewal arrived before new episodes even start. Filming for Season 5 has already begun in New York, replacing Atlanta, Deadline said.
The move is a loss for Georgia, where the show has been made in and around Atlanta. Deadline said the switch follows the story, which will explore the mafia roots of Stallone's character, Dwight "The General" Manfredi. Variety tied the change to the show's budget and to New York's film tax credit.
"We're proud of the work we've done in Georgia, and it remains an important venue for us," said Drew Brown, an executive at Paramount Television Studios. Hope Knight, who leads New York's economic development agency, said the state's tax credit program "delivers real jobs and investment for New Yorkers," Deadline reported.
Stallone signed a new deal that helped clinch the renewal, just as he did for Seasons 3 and 4. His daughter Scarlet Rose Stallone returns as Spencer and has been promoted to series regular. New regulars include Erik Palladino, Glenn Fleshler, Anthony Skordi and Nickola Shreli, though their characters are being kept secret for now.
Season 4 picks up with Dwight trying to make his business legitimate while facing corrupt politicians, new enemies and a painful personal loss, according to Deadline. Gretchen Mol joins that season as a series regular, alongside returning stars such as Martin Starr, Jay Will, Frank Grillo, Garrett Hedlund and Dana Delany.
Terence Winter remains head writer and an executive producer, and Taylor Sheridan is also an executive producer.
How to watch: New Season 4 episodes stream on Paramount+ starting Oct. 16, and Season 5 has no premiere date yet.

Where outlets agree Deadline and Variety both report that Paramount+ renewed Tulsa King for a fifth season ahead of its Oct. 16 Season 4 premiere and that production is moving to New York.
Where they differ Deadline says the move follows a storyline about Dwight's New York mafia roots, while Variety ties it to the show's budget and New York's film tax credit.
