On Saturday, Taylor Swift pointed Instagram Stories traffic to Apple Music for Patient Zero (Expanded Video), an eight-minute behind-the-scenes cut that walks through how she directed the original music video. Billboard reports the clip opens with Swift saying she had wanted to make the piece her entire life — a sleek, monochromatic ghost story that “meets true crime” and Dateline-style dread.

The original Patient Zero video premiered Sept. 27 at the MTV Video Music Awards. Dakota Johnson plays a wife whose health collapses; Colin Farrell is the ambitious husband; Swift appears as the ghost of Farrell’s former wife warning Johnson about what is coming. The Apple Music video bundle packages the song, the finished video, and the new expanded making-of.

On set, Johnson says working with a friend can wreck a friendship — “but she and I work really well together.” The expanded cut shows the pair practicing an underwater pool sequence in matching black swimsuits overlooking Los Angeles. Swift praises cinematographer Emmanuel “Chivo” Lubezki, joking that the nickname means goat “’cause he’s the f—king goat.” Farrell calls Swift’s creative engine “really quite humbling.”

The same Saturday night, Swift crashed Johnson’s Saturday Night Live monologue, turning the video partnership into a full-weekend promo loop without a musical performance slot. Patient Zero is one of four new songs on The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, alongside Cleveland!, Pink Clouding, and Babylon. Fans can watch the expanded cut now on Apple Music while the original VMA premiere clip continues circulating on social feeds.
