Witkoff said the talks would “focus on post-war security arrangements, de-escalation, humanitarian efforts, and next steps toward peace,” Axios and CBS News report.

Witkoff and Jared Kushner will lead the US team, Axios reports. US officials say the meeting comes after talks the two envoys held in recent weeks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The talks will be at the working level, which generally means talks among experts rather than senior leaders, CBS reports.

The diplomatic effort was suspended in February because of the war in Iran, Axios says.

The White House hopes Putin will give more ground now, Axios reports. Trump agreed to lift sanctions on Russian diesel sales. So far, Putin's only clear concession is agreeing to resume talks, the site says.

Putin has refused to drop his demand that Ukraine accept Russia's claim to some land it seized, CBS reports. Zelenskyy has ruled out accepting the seizure of land by force.

US officials will also meet this week in Brussels with France, Germany, the UK, the EU and NATO to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, Axios and CBS report.

The plan follows a rare local ceasefire in the southern Kherson region, CBS says. That truce ended on Sunday. Russia kept up strikes elsewhere, and officials said at least 29 people were killed in a village in Zaporizhzhia.

“We look forward to building on the progress made in Kyiv, Oslo, and St. Petersburg toward a comprehensive, durable peace agreement,” Witkoff said, according to CBS.

What we know: Witkoff says US-mediated talks will take place in Abu Dhabi on 10 and 11 November.
What we don't: Whether either side will shift its position on territory.
