LeBron James sips a fan's wine after crashing into the stands
LeBron James took a sip of a fan's wine after running into the stands during the Philadelphia 76ers' win over the Chicago Bulls, CBS Philadelphia and the New York Post report. James said he spilled the drink and wanted to see if it was worth it. Philadelphia won 126-107.
James crashed into a 76ers fan behind the basket after coming up empty on a fast break on Monday night, CBS Philadelphia reports. He then took a sip of the fan's wine.
“I spilled some of his wine. I crashed into him, spilled some of his wine. So I wanted to see if it was worth it on my arm and how good it was. It was all right,” James said after the game, according to the Post.
Several video angles of the moment went viral, the New York Post reports. The fan has been named as Troy Clemons, the paper says.
Clemons said James crashed into him, grabbed him and said “My bad,” the Post reports, citing a post on X by ESPN's Kris Rhim. He said his drinks spilled everywhere and James took his drink and sipped it.
Clemons said he threw the wine cup in the trash and got a fresh drink afterward, the Post says.
James, 41, finished with 15 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, CBS reports. He joined the 76ers in July.
The win was Philadelphia's fourth in a row and improved its Eastern Conference-leading record to 7-1, CBS says. James started alongside Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe and Jaylen Brown, and Maxey led the team with 26 points.
James said the season is a long one and that players need to find ways to have fun, or it can wear on them, CBS reports.
