Bethesda revealed on Tuesday that the next game in The Elder Scrolls series is called The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel, VGC reports. The name came at the end of a video marking the 40th anniversary of Bethesda Softworks, PC Gamer reports.

Todd Howard, who leads Bethesda Game Studios, narrated the video. “You know, everybody’s always asking about Elder Scrolls 6. And we thought, hey, given the moment, what a perfect time to tell you what The Elder Scrolls 6 is actually called,” he said, PC Gamer reports.

Fans have waited a long time. Bethesda first announced the game more than eight years ago, The Verge reports. The Verge reported last week that Bethesda planned to name it in November, around the 15th anniversary of Skyrim.

The Verge reports the game will be set in Hammerfell, a province in the Elder Scrolls world. VGC and PC Gamer treat that as likely but not confirmed. Sentinel is the name of a major kingdom in Hammerfell, PC Gamer reports. Bethesda itself has not said where the game takes place.

The teaser includes a quote from a character, dated to a year in the game's history. The fan wiki UESP reads that date as putting Sentinel at least five years after the events of Skyrim, PC Gamer reports. That is a reading of the teaser, not a statement from Bethesda.

Bethesda did not give a release date or name the systems the game will come out on. In a separate post, Bethesda said “it’ll be some time before we’re ready to share more,” VGC reports.

What we know: The next Elder Scrolls game is called Sentinel, Bethesda's video shows.
What we don't: When it will come out, which systems it will be on and where it is set.
