Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell was placed on a backboard and carted off the field early in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings, AP reports. Fox Sports and NBC Sports also report that he was carted off. He was taken to a hospital to be evaluated for a neck injury, AP and Fox Sports report. Fox Sports says the Lions announced that he went to a local hospital.

Campbell was hurt after he tackled Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson, AP and Fox Sports report. He stayed face down on the turf, AP and Fox Sports say. Trainers tended to him, and he was put on the cart nearly 10 minutes after the injury, Fox Sports reports. Detroit's entire team and most of the coaching staff gathered around the cart before it left the field, AP reports.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Jack and his family," Lions coach Dan Campbell said after the game, according to NBC Sports. "He's being taken care of. We don't have any new information. We'll keep you updated as this goes, but we're thinking about him." AP also reports that the coach had no more information.

Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell also offered thoughts and prayers for Campbell, NBC Sports reports. The Lions won the game 19-15, AP reports.

Campbell earned All-Pro honors last season, AP and Fox Sports report. Fox Sports says he is 26 and also made the Pro Bowl. The Lions drafted the former Iowa star in 2023 with the 18th overall pick, AP reports. Detroit signed him last May to a four-year contract extension that runs through the 2030 season, AP says.

NBC Sports reports that there was no immediate word on his condition.

What we know: Campbell was carted off on a backboard and taken to a hospital to be evaluated for a neck injury.
