Shawn VanDiver of the group AfghanEvac said at least 80 Afghans have been moved to an ICE center in Louisiana in recent days, NBC News reports. "Anybody from Afghanistan is in danger if they get sent back," he said, ABC News reports.

A senior administration official said the government's view is that the people "do not have status in our country," NBC News reports. Homeland Security said it could not confirm the flights "for operational security reasons." A State Department spokesperson said all countries must be able to control their borders, the outlets report.

Democratic Representative Scott Peters called the plan "absolute cruelty," ABC News reports. Pakistan's government did not respond to requests for comment, NBC News says.
