Walmart's holiday meal basket this year will cost $35 and feed 10 people, or $3.50 a person, according to CBS News. The retailer announced the price on Wednesday.

The kit is sold in stores and online through December 24. Walmart cited its own survey data showing that shoppers want lower prices, CBS News reports.

"Not only does this year's basket have 18% more items, but it also costs 12% less than those same items did last year, making this the lowest priced one-click basket in the program's history," Walmart said in a statement. The company is also offering free express delivery on the basket through November 30.

The basket holds 17 products and 26 items in all. It includes a Butterball frozen turkey of 10 to 16 pounds, Stove Top stuffing, russet and sweet potatoes, fresh cranberries and canned green beans and corn. It also has brown gravy mix, rolls, corn muffin mix, pie crusts, canned pumpkin, evaporated milk, whipped topping and mini marshmallows.

The deal comes as food costs stay high. Through September, food prices in the US rose 2.5 percent this year, according to the CBS News Price Tracker. The cost of groceries bought to eat at home has climbed by more than 30 percent since 2020, CBS News reports, citing Federal Reserve data.

Thanksgiving falls on November 26 this year.
