People magazine has named Noah Wyle its Sexiest Man Alive for 2026, Variety and ABC News report. The magazine revealed its pick Tuesday.

In his interview with People, Wyle said the news first sounded like "a classic set-up for a prank," ABC News reports. "Just not in a million years did I think this would be an honor bestowed on me in this lifetime," he said in the interview, as quoted by ABC News. "I hope it's just wine and roses, milk and honey from here on out," he joked, adding that he expected "a lot of ribbing from friends and family," Variety reports, citing People.

Wyle said his wife is "amused by it all." "She's the reason I accepted because she was very pleased that this confers well on her taste, I think," he said in the People interview, ABC News reports.

Wyle, 55, stars as the emergency doctor known as Dr. Robby in HBO's "The Pitt," ABC News reports. Variety says the role won him a Golden Globe in 2026 and Emmy awards in 2025 and 2026. Season three is set to premiere in January 2027, Variety reports.

Wyle first became famous playing Dr. John Carter on NBC's "ER," alongside George Clooney. In January, Clooney joked that he would nominate Wyle if AARP ever did a "sexiest man still alive" issue, Variety and ABC News report. ABC News notes that Clooney won the People title in 1997 and 2006.

Mel Gibson was the first Sexiest Man Alive in 1985, Variety reports. Wyle follows Jonathan Bailey, who was named in 2025, and John Krasinski, the 2024 pick, ABC News reports.
