The FBI searched a Beverly Hills mansion owned by billionaire Stephen Cloobeck on Tuesday as part of an investigation into former Representative Eric Swalwell, according to CNN, Fox News, and NBC Los Angeles. Cloobeck was a Swalwell donor who once backed his California governor bid. He was not home when agents arrived.

Fox News said about two dozen agents took part in a roughly 6 am raid and that several people were led out in handcuffs and soon released. NBC Los Angeles said FBI sources indicated no arrests were expected at the site Tuesday. CNN did not report handcuffs or arrests. An FBI statement to CNN said the agency ran an operation in the Los Angeles region tied to an ongoing criminal probe and declined further detail. An FBI spokesperson confirmed to NBC News that a sealed search warrant was being executed.

Attorneys for Cloobeck said he was not home and continues to have faith in the judicial process. CNN said it reached out to a Swalwell lawyer for comment. Swalwell has denied sexual misconduct claims that ended his House career and governor run in April. He has not been charged in connection with those claims. State and federal probes remain open, the outlets report.

Cloobeck donated about one million dollars in March to an independent group backing Swalwell, CNN said, citing California campaign records. He later cut ties after the allegations. In August, agents seized Swalwell devices at San Francisco airport and searched his Washington home, outlets previously reported.

What we know: Agents searched Cloobeck's Beverly Hills home Tuesday in a Swalwell-linked probe. He was away, and his lawyers pledged faith in the courts.
What we don't: What agents sought or seized, and whether charges will follow for Swalwell or Cloobeck.
