Cyclone Arnab hit the Andhra Pradesh and Yanam coasts early Wednesday and then lost strength, according to The New Indian Express and Telangana Today, both citing India's weather office. The center came ashore about 20 km from Narsapur between 2 am and 8 am Winds at landfall were 125 to 135 kmph, with gusts to 150 kmph, the weather office said.

Two people died after contact with live wires during the storm, both outlets report. A 53-year-old man died Tuesday night in Visakhapatnam district when a snapped wire hit a farm channel. A 55-year-old woman died Wednesday morning in Yellamanchili town after she stepped on an exposed wire outside her home, police said.

Some district police chiefs quoted by Telangana Today said their areas had no deaths or major harm even as the statewide wire-related toll stood at two. Trees and power poles fell across coastal districts. More than 10,000 people were moved to shelters in one coastal district alone. Rain topped 200 mm at several spots, including 216.9 mm near Visakhapatnam, The New Indian Express reported.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu ordered fast road clearing, power repair, and relief supplies, Telangana Today said. The weather office expected further weakening as the system moved inland. Power was out for nearly a day in parts of Visakhapatnam, The New Indian Express said. Low coastal land faced a storm surge of about one to 1.5 meters above the normal tide at landfall.

What we know: Arnab finished a six-hour landfall near Narsapur and two people died after contact with live wires amid damage and outages.
What we don't: A final statewide damage and death toll after inland rains continue.
