Manhunt on for escaped Tennessee murderer Morley
Tennessee officials are hunting Jacob Allen Morley, 28, after he escaped a state prison on Sunday night. CNN, NBC News, and The Guardian said he is serving life for murder. Video shows him stealing a white Ford truck after the breakout.
Tennessee officials launched a manhunt after Jacob Allen Morley, 28, escaped the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville on Sunday night. CNN, NBC News, The Guardian, and the New York Post reported the case. Staff learned he was missing around eleven thirty at night on October 25, the state corrections department said.
Security video later showed Morley go through the perimeter fence in his prison uniform. How he got through the fence was not clear on the pages. Video from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation shows him stealing a white 2008 Ford F-350 with Tennessee plates around one in the morning on October 26.
Morley is serving a life sentence. His convictions include first-degree murder, aggravated burglary, tampering with evidence, evading arrest, and vandalism tied to a 2022 case. He had not been caught when the Monday reports published.
Troopers warned the public not to approach him. Officials asked anyone who saw the truck or the escapee to call police at once. The prison sits in rural Lake County near the Kentucky line, which widened the search area overnight.
Roadblocks and air units were part of the early response, local outlets said. Neighbors near the prison were urged to lock doors and report odd vehicles. The truck's plate details were shared with surrounding states as the hunt entered a second day. Search teams kept working after dawn on Monday.
What we know: Morley escaped Sunday, stole a truck, and remains at large.
What we don't: Where he is now, and how he breached the fence.
