Apple iOS 27.2 brings Siri AI to more languages
Apple released iOS 27.2 and macOS 27.2 with Siri AI in beta for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, TechCrunch and Ars Technica report. The updates add security fixes, and Ars Technica noted a new Apple Music logo. Siri AI is still unavailable in the EU and mainland China.
Apple released iOS 27.2 and macOS 27.2, bringing Siri AI in beta to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish alongside English on Apple Intelligence devices, TechCrunch and Ars Technica report. The updates also add security fixes, and Ars Technica noted a new Apple Music logo. Ars Technica noted that Siri AI is still not available in the EU or mainland China on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.
Siri AI can now recall past chats and pull from more on-device sources such as photos in Messages, calendar guests, voicemails, and Safari history, TechCrunch and Ars Technica reported. Users can block apps from Siri, Search, and suggestions. Messages can suggest turning a chat into a reminder or calendar event. Shared Albums gain caption edits and expiry reminders. The iPhone Duo foldable gets Apple Pencil support in apps such as Notes.
TechCrunch said iOS 27.2 includes more than 160 security fixes, with many sent back to older software. Apple said about 80% of iPhone owners still run iOS 26. A fix also went to iOS 18 for a bug Apple said may have been used in a complex attack on specific targets before iOS 27. Other additions include Multiview for up to four live sports streams on iPhone and Dual Capture options in FaceTime, TechCrunch reported.
Apple is still selling the Siri AI rollout as the heart of this point release. Memory and wider language support matter for households that want the assistant in a second language, while the EU and China gaps leave a large market waiting. The Music logo change is small next to those limits, but it is part of the same update train across iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS, Ars Technica reported.
What we know: iOS 27.2 and macOS 27.2 expand Siri AI to five more languages in beta, add security fixes, and refresh the Apple Music logo, with Siri AI still blocked in the EU and mainland China.
What we don't: When Siri AI will clear EU and China rules, or how many users will turn on the new memory and language features right away.
