Cooper Flagg left Friday night's game with left shoulder soreness and did not play in the second half of Dallas' 121-105 win over the Indiana Pacers, ESPN and CBS Sports reported.

Pacers forward Aaron Nesmith was assessed a Flagrant 1 after a hard foul that knocked Flagg to the floor on his left shoulder, ESPN said. Naji Marshall confronted Nesmith under the basket. Officials then gave Nesmith and Marshall technical fouls after a review, ESPN reported. Flagg made one of two free throws before leaving for good.

Mavericks coach Dusty May said Flagg has left shoulder soreness and will be evaluated in the next couple of days. May said he saw Flagg in good spirits in the locker room. He did not know yet whether an MRI was needed, ESPN reported. The team did not give a return timeline, and May would not guess when Flagg might be back.

The win was May's first as Dallas coach, ESPN noted. Flagg is the reigning Rookie of the Year and had already dealt with the same shoulder as a first-year player, ESPN said. The Mavericks are set to host the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday, CBS Sports said. Flagg's status for that game was not clear from the team. NBC Sports also reported that Flagg did not return after the foul. Dallas already sat at 1-1 in the young season before Saturday's home date with San Antonio, ESPN's scoreboard showed. May said the staff would know more in a couple of days and would not guess at a timeline before that evaluation.

What we know: Flagg left with left shoulder soreness after Nesmith's Flagrant 1 in Dallas' 121-105 win, and May said he will be evaluated soon.
What we don't: How long Flagg will miss, or whether he plays against San Antonio.
