Tottenham Hotspur beat Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday for its first Premier League win there since 2018, The Guardian and BBC Sport reported.

Mike Penders, making his first Premier League start in goal for Chelsea, punched a Mateus Fernandes corner into his own net in the 77th minute under pressure from Jan Paul van Hecke, The Guardian said. Cole Palmer was then sent off for a second yellow card after a foul on Conor Gallagher, The Guardian reported. Mathys Tel made it 2-0 in the 87th minute with a shot from about 20 yards, The Guardian said. BBC Sport said Spurs had about 68.5% of possession and 15 shots to Chelsea's seven.

James Maddison, back from a long ACL layoff and starting just his second league game since that injury, went off early in the second half, ESPN reported. Tottenham coach Roberto De Zerbi said after the match, "We need to do the medical checks tomorrow, after tomorrow I don't know." He also said he hoped it was not a big problem because Maddison is a special player for Spurs, ESPN reported. NewsHabit is not assigning a diagnosis beyond what De Zerbi said.

The win lifted Spurs into 12th place after a second straight league victory, The Guardian said. Chelsea lost at home in the league for the first time this season. De Zerbi praised his side's poise in possession, The Guardian reported. Penders started because Emi Martinez is out with a broken jaw, The Guardian said. Alonso brought Danny Welbeck on late, The Guardian reported. Spurs had not kept a clean sheet in a win at Chelsea in all competitions since December 1986, The Guardian noted.

What we know: Spurs won 2-0 at Chelsea on Penders' own goal and Tel's late strike, Palmer was sent off, and De Zerbi said Maddison needs medical checks.
What we don't: What those checks will show, or how long Maddison may miss.
