Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig are engaged weeks after their exes wed
Actor Andrew Shue and lawyer Marilee Fiebig are engaged, Shue said in a new People interview. Their former spouses, two ex-ABC News hosts, married each other privately in Arkansas in September. Shue and Fiebig became close after their exes' romance made news in 2022.
Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig are engaged, Shue said in an interview with People published Wednesday. The Los Angeles Times also reported the news.
"We're very grateful and hopeful," Shue, 59, said in People's new issue. "I don't know how it happened, but there's a happy ending."
Shue is a former "Melrose Place" actor. Fiebig, 49, is an immigration attorney, People reported. The couple got engaged this past spring after dating for more than three years, the magazine said.
Their story has drawn attention because of their former spouses. Shue was married to Amy Robach, and Fiebig was married to T.J. Holmes. Robach and Holmes co-hosted an ABC News show, and their romance made headlines in late 2022. People said both couples were separated by then and later divorced.
Robach and Holmes married privately in Arkansas in September, the Los Angeles Times reported. USA Today said a county clerk in Washington County, Arkansas, had confirmed the wedding date as Sept. 19.
The Los Angeles Times said Robach and Holmes left their ABC News posts in January 2023. The pair have said they were both already in the process of divorcing at the time, the paper reported.
Shue said he and Fiebig first became friends. "This just happened to be our way of getting to know each other and being able to share ourselves with each other in a time where we both needed a friend," he said in People.
He also spoke about his own past marriage. "I had to grow through a lot of pain and a lot of struggle and a lot of humility," Shue said. "I think the magic of love is when you go from a need to giving."
Shue has spent recent years on The Forum, a project that aims to bring Americans together across political lines, People reported. He has three adult sons.
