Sarina Wiegman has signed a two-year contract extension to stay as head coach of England's women's team through the end of Euro 2029, the BBC, the Guardian and Sky Sports reported.

The 56-year-old's previous deal was due to expire after next summer's World Cup, the BBC and the Guardian reported. The extension gives her the chance to lead the Lionesses to a third straight European Championship title, the Guardian and Sky Sports reported.

"I am so happy to be able to carry on with this squad and cannot think of a better job in football," Wiegman said, according to the Guardian and Sky Sports. "Working for a world-class organisation like the FA, and alongside so many people dedicated to winning England teams and the growth of our game, excites me every day," she said.

Wiegman replaced Phil Neville in September 2021 and led England to its first major women's trophy at Euro 2022, beating Germany 2-1 in the final at Wembley, the BBC reported. England beat Spain in the Euro 2025 final, becoming the first England team, women's or men's, to win a major trophy on foreign soil, the BBC reported.

By reaching the 2025 final, Wiegman became the first manager of a women's or men's team to reach five straight major international finals, the BBC reported. She also won Euro 2017 with her native Netherlands, the BBC, the Guardian and Sky Sports reported.

England beat Greece 8-1 on aggregate last week and will face Ukraine over two legs in the final World Cup playoff round in December, the BBC and Sky Sports reported. The winner goes to the 2027 World Cup in Brazil, Sky Sports reported.

"My main concern right now is absolutely the World Cup," Wiegman said, according to the BBC, the Guardian and Sky Sports.

"Sarina's impact on English football has been immense," said FA chief executive Mark Bullingham, the BBC reported.

What we know: Wiegman will coach England through Euro 2029 after signing a two-year extension.
What we don't: Whether England will qualify for the 2027 World Cup, which depends on December's playoff against Ukraine.
