San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans left Monday night's 23-17 win over the Washington Commanders with an Achilles injury, but early signs point to the tendon being intact, the San Francisco Chronicle and SB Nation's Niners Nation reported.

Evans, 33, was slow to get up after catching a 16-yard pass with 1:03 left before halftime at Levi's Stadium, the Chronicle reported. He walked to the locker room with medical staff and was seen limping badly, favoring his right leg. The team ruled him out in the second half.

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Evans avoided a serious injury and has Achilles tendinitis, the Chronicle reported. He said Evans would not need more tests. "It was just the same thing that was bothering him all week," Shanahan said. "It acted up too much during the game and he couldn't go. We'll see how he feels this week."

The Achilles soreness kept Evans out of practice all week and made him questionable for the game. Shanahan called it "a pretty close call" to let him play. "He felt confident he'd be good today," Shanahan said. "But we knew he might not be able to last."

After the game, reporter Jennifer Lee Chan said she was hearing that Evans will miss "a little time," Niners Nation reported. He likely will not return until after the team's bye, according to that report.

Evans was also playing his third straight game with two broken ribs, the Chronicle reported. Before he left, he had three catches for 94 yards, including a 54-yard catch-and-run that set up a touchdown for a 13-3 lead. The six-time Pro Bowl pick has 27 catches for 420 yards and three touchdowns in six games in his first season with San Francisco.

The 49ers are thin at receiver. Without Evans, they had four receivers available, the Chronicle reported. Deebo Samuel is expected to miss several games with a hamstring injury, and two others are on injured reserve.

What we know: Evans left with an Achilles injury that the coach called tendinitis, not a tear.
What we don't: How many games Evans will miss.
