Miami is No. 1 in the AP Top 25 college football poll for the first time since 2002, the Miami Herald and CBS Sports reported. The poll was released Sunday.

The unbeaten Hurricanes, now 6-0, received 40 first-place votes, the Herald and CBS Sports reported. The Herald reported that there were 70 first-place votes in all. Miami moved up from No. 3.

The change came after a weekend of upsets, the Herald and CBS Sports reported. Georgia, ranked No. 1 last week, lost to unranked Auburn and fell to No. 5. Notre Dame, ranked No. 2, lost to BYU and fell to No. 4.

BYU moved up to No. 2 after its win over Notre Dame, the Herald and CBS Sports reported. CBS Sports reported that the Big 12 later said officials erred by not putting another second on the clock at the end of that game. Ohio State is No. 3.

The Herald reported that five of the top seven teams lost in the same week for the first time in the history of the AP poll. CBS Sports reported that five of the eight top-ranked teams lost on the same day, also a first in the poll's history.

Miami beat Florida State 43-35 in double overtime on Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium, the Herald reported. The Herald reported that the last time Miami was No. 1 was Dec. 8, 2002, in the final poll before that season's title game, which the Hurricanes lost to Ohio State. The Herald reported that it is also the first time a team from the Atlantic Coast Conference has been No. 1 since Clemson in 2020.

The rest of the top 10 is Indiana, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, UCLA and Utah, the Herald and CBS Sports reported.

What we know: Miami is No. 1 in the AP poll for the first time since 2002, with BYU at No. 2.
What we don't: Whether Miami will stay on top after next week's games.
