President Donald Trump promised at a rally in Highland Heights, Kentucky, on Saturday that the government would invest in a drug manufacturing facility in the state if Republicans win the midterms, The Associated Press and the New York Post reported.

The Defense Department would invest in revitalizing the facility, the AP reported. "If the Republicans win, the Department of War will be investing $100 million in the pharmaceutical company Antheia to revitalize a gigantic drug manufacturing facility in Winchester, Kentucky," Trump said, according to the Post. He said the investment would not happen if Democrats win, the Post reported.

Trump campaigned for Ed Gallrein, the Republican nominee for the House seat held by Representative Thomas Massie, the outlets reported. Gallrein beat Massie in the primary with Trump's backing, the AP and the Post reported. When Trump called Massie a "jerk" and a "loser," about half the arena clapped and the other half was silent, the AP reported.

"This is a much more powerful term," Trump said, according to the AP, as he talked about renaming the Gulf of Mexico. He also repeated a promise that every adult American would get $5,000 if Republicans win both chambers of Congress, the AP reported. The AP said that would likely cost more than $1 trillion and need approval from Congress.

Democratic Governor Andy Beshear said Trump's visit to a state he won easily was a sign that "Republicans are in big trouble," the Post reported. The rally also gave Trump access to Ohio television markets, said Stephen Voss, a political scientist at the University of Kentucky, according to the Post.

Representative Andy Barr is the Republican running for the Senate seat held by Mitch McConnell, the Post reported. Republicans hold a 53-47 Senate majority and a 218-214 House majority, the Post reported.

What we know: Trump tied a promised drug facility investment to Republican wins at a Kentucky rally on Saturday.
What we don't: Whether the investment would need approval from Congress, and when it could happen.
