Hurricane Trudy is a Category 2 storm moving along Mexico's Pacific coast, CBS News and EFE reported. It grew stronger again on Saturday, EFE reported. On Sunday morning, its top winds were about 105 mph, CBS News reported.

Civil protection officials reported flooding, fallen trees and stranded cars in the cities of Colima, Villa de Alvarez and Manzanillo, EFE reported. In Colima state, officials closed beaches and the port of Manzanillo and opened six temporary shelters, EFE reported.

A hurricane warning covers the coast from Manzanillo, in Colima, north to Cabo Corrientes, in Jalisco, CBS News and EFE reported. A tropical storm warning covers the Islas Marias, CBS News reported, and the coast north of Cabo Corrientes to San Blas, the hurricane center said. Warnings for the coast south of Manzanillo have been dropped, the US National Hurricane Center said on Sunday morning.

At 8 in the morning Eastern time on Sunday, the center of Trudy was about 150 miles west of Manzanillo, the hurricane center said. It was moving northwest at about 10 mph. The center is expected to stay near the coast through Sunday evening, the hurricane center said. It should then pass south of Baja California Sur on Monday and Tuesday. The storm is expected to weaken quickly starting tonight, the hurricane center said.

The storm could bring 4 to 8 inches of rain, with up to 12 inches in some places near the coast of Michoacan, Colima and Jalisco, CBS News reported. Mexico's weather service warned of waves of up to 7 meters on those coasts, EFE reported. Floods and mudslides are possible, CBS News and EFE reported.

The Mexican Navy urged sailors and people on the coast to take great care, CBS News reported. Colima officials said the risk was low, but the ground is already soaked from earlier storms, CBS News reported. Hurricane Simon hit the same region last week, CBS News and EFE reported.
