A 76-year-old woman from Florida was killed on Saturday when a rock slide trapped two bicyclists on the Great Allegheny Passage in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, WPXI and CBS News Pittsburgh reported, citing the county coroner.

The two riders were trapped under a rock at mile marker 87.6 of the trail, in Ohiopyle State Park, the two stations reported. CBS News Pittsburgh reported that the slide happened around noon, citing a state park post. One rider died at the scene, CBS News Pittsburgh reported, citing state police.

The other rider was flown by helicopter to a hospital, the two stations reported. WPXI reported that state park officials said the rider had serious injuries. The coroner is withholding the woman's name until her relatives are notified, the stations reported. The name of the second rider has not been released, CBS News Pittsburgh reported.

Connellsville Mayor Greg Lincoln said on social media that "a couple, enjoying a beautiful ride on the trail, were caught in a landslide," WPXI and CBS News Pittsburgh reported. "The couple and their family are in the thoughts and prayers of my family and everyone in Connellsville," Lincoln wrote.

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is investigating, the two stations reported. Trail officials closed the path between Ohiopyle and Connellsville and asked riders to avoid that section, WPXI reported.

The Great Allegheny Passage runs 150 miles between Pittsburgh and Cumberland, Maryland, and draws hundreds of thousands of visitors a year, CBS News Pittsburgh reported. Part of the trail near Kennywood Park closed this summer for work on landslide concerns, CBS News Pittsburgh reported.
