Elijah Brown threw for 302 yards and three touchdowns Friday night as Washington beat Purdue 38-26 in West Lafayette, Ind., The Associated Press and The Seattle Times reported. The win snapped Washington's three-game losing streak, the AP and The Seattle Times reported, and was its first Big Ten win of the season, The Seattle Times reported.

Brown, a Stanford transfer, started in place of Demond Williams Jr., who is recovering from a rib injury, The Seattle Times reported. It was Brown's first start for coach Jedd Fisch, The Seattle Times reported. He completed 21 of 27 passes and threw three interceptions, according to the AP and the ESPN box score.

Brown's first pass of the game was intercepted, the AP and The Seattle Times reported. Washington led 24-17 at halftime after Brian Bonner Jr. scored on a 1-yard run with 27 seconds left, the AP reported. A roughing-the-passer penalty on third down kept that drive alive, the AP reported.

Brown's 4-yard touchdown pass to Dezmen Roebuck early in the fourth quarter put Washington up 31-20, the AP and The Seattle Times reported. Purdue answered with a touchdown to cut the lead to 31-26, but its two-point try failed, the AP reported. Trey Cooley then ran 53 yards for a touchdown with 10:30 left to make it 38-26, the AP reported. Cooley finished with 113 rushing yards on eight carries, according to the AP and the box score.

Washington outgained Purdue 488 yards to 371, the AP reported. "I felt like we played as a team," Brown said, according to The Seattle Times. "Obviously, I had those three interceptions, but I think everyone stayed positive and kept encouraging me. And we got it done."

Fisch said he had seen no sign that Brown would crack under pressure. "And there was certainly no flinch tonight," Fisch said, according to The Seattle Times.

Washington is now 4-3 and 1-3 in the Big Ten, and Purdue is 3-4 and 2-2, the AP reported. Both teams have a bye next week, the AP reported. Washington plays at Nebraska on Oct. 31, and Purdue plays at Penn State the same day, according to the AP and ESPN schedule data.
