President Donald Trump said Friday there is "zero chance" he will replace White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, CNN and the New York Post reported. "Susie is here and she's gonna be here for a long time," Trump said, according to CNN.

Trump called a Politico report "a fake story," CNN reported. Politico's Playbook newsletter had reported on Thursday that Trump was asking allies who might be a good replacement for Wiles, the New York Post reported. "She's been incredible," Trump said of Wiles, adding that she is "smart and tough" and had just been through cancer surgery, according to CNN. In a statement, he said Wiles "has my COMPLETE confidence," CNN reported. Trump also said, "I could not be more happy with Susie," the Post reported.

The report set off talk of infighting at the White House ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections, the Post reported. Press secretary Katie Zacharia left her job on Friday after less than a week, and Wiles had not been part of her hiring, the Post reported. Insiders expect Trump to look for someone to blame if Republicans do poorly in the midterms, the Post reported, citing unnamed sources.

The Post reported that people speculated about possible replacements, including federal housing official Bill Pulte and deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller. It also reported that Corey Lewandowski has pushed for Pulte, citing The Washington Post, and that Lewandowski has denied talking with Trump about it.

Wiles informed Trump in March that she had early-stage breast cancer and kept working through treatment, CNN reported. She said last month that she was cancer-free, CNN reported. Wiles helped run Trump's 2024 campaign and is the first woman to serve as White House chief of staff, CNN reported.

What we know: Trump said on Friday that he will not replace Wiles and that she has his full confidence.
What we don't: Whether the reported tension among top aides will lead to other staff changes after the midterm elections.
